Step-by-Step DIY Summary
Brake Teardown: Remove wheel, brake caliper, and rotor to expose the wheel hub assembly.
Axle Nut Removal: Un-stake and remove axle nut while an assistant steps on the brake pedal or using an impact wrench.
Unbolt Hub Assembly: Remove the 3 or 4 hub-to-knuckle mounting bolts from the backside of the steering knuckle.
Extract & Clean: Use a hub puller to press axle shaft out of hub. Remove old hub unit. Wire-brush knuckle bore clean of rust.
Install & Torque: Slide new hub assembly into place, torque knuckle mounting bolts, reinstall axle nut and torque to factory spec, then re-stake nut if applicable.
