Step-by-Step DIY Summary
Preparation: Turn off engine, headlights, and all electronics. Note vehicle radio codes if applicable.
Disconnect Cables: Loosen the negative (-) black cable clamp nut (usually 10mm) and twist off. Next, loosen and remove the positive (+) red cable clamp.
Remove Hold-Down: Unbolt the battery hold-down clamp or wedge bracket using a long extension socket.
Swap & Clean: Lift the heavy old battery out vertically. Clean the battery tray and wire-brush the interior of both cable clamps to bare, shiny metal.
