Step-by-Step DIY Summary
Access Coils: Remove the engine cosmetic cover. Disconnect the electrical connector for each ignition coil pack.
Remove Coils: Remove the coil pack retaining bolt (usually 8mm or 10mm) and pull the coil boot straight up with a slight twisting motion.
Extract Old Plugs: Lower the spark plug socket and extension into the tube. Break loose counter-clockwise and unscrew slowly. Inspect electrode color.
Install New Plugs: Check gap against vehicle spec (pre-gapped iridium plugs must not be aggressively bent). Hand-thread the new plug 4-5 full turns to prevent cross-threading.
Torque & Reassemble: Torque plugs to factory spec (typically 13–18 ft-lbs). Apply a dab of dielectric grease inside each coil boot, re-seat coils, tighten coil bolts, and reconnect harnesses.
