Step-by-Step DIY Summary
Disconnect Battery: Disconnect negative battery terminal to cut all high-current 12V power.
Locate Starter: Locate the starter motor where the engine block meets the transmission bell housing.
Disconnect Wiring: Remove the small push-on or nutted "S" terminal wire, and remove the main 12V nutted B-terminal lead.
Remove Mounting Bolts: Remove the 2 or 3 mounting bolts securing the starter to the transmission bell housing. Hold the starter firmly while removing the final bolt to prevent it from dropping.
Install New Starter: Align the replacement starter pinion into the bell housing, hand-thread all bolts, torque to spec, reconnect electrical terminals, and reconnect the battery.
